How the Intranet Works
This protocol can set some allowed data formats, error handling, information traffic, and also other communication standards.
Networks and computers that have different platforms with their respective characteristics can exchange messages using a standard protocol called TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol).

1. TCP (Transmission Control Protocol)
TCP is composed of four layers, namely network access, host-to-host transport, internet, and application. Each of these layers has its own protocol.
This protocol is also able to work on all types of computers, without having to be affected by differences in hardware and software.
This TCP performs data transmissions for each segment. In other words, the data packet will be divided into several parts according to the size of the packet, after which it will be sent regularly until it is finished.
In order for this transmission to work properly, then in each delivery, a TCP will provide a serial number.
The computer that will receive this data packet will send back an acknowledgment signal within a certain period of time.
If the time has not yet been sent, there will be a "time out", which means that the package delivery failed. This TCP protocol model is also known as a connection-oriented protocol.
2. IP (Internet Protocol)
IP uses IP-address as its identity. Data transmission will be wrapped in packets that have a label in the form of the IP-address of the sender and also the IP-address of the recipient.
If the receiving IP sees that the packet has the appropriate IP-address identity, then this datagram will be received and routed to TCP via the port, while the appropriate application has been waiting for the data.
IP-address is used as an Internet Protocol identity. Data will be sent via packets labeled with the IP-address of the sender and the IP-address of the recipient.
By the recipient's IP-address, the data is seen, whether it matches the sender's IP-address or not, if appropriate, the data is then routed to TCP via the port. In TCP, there are already other applications waiting.
In general, the standard system from the internet used in intranet networks is the standard TCP/IP protocol. This standard allows network protocols to process communication, send and receive data between terminals.
