How to Take Care of a Laptop

Battery A laptop battery is the life of a laptop, therefore it is important for laptop owners to always carry a charger and take care of the battery to keep it durable and long-lasting.

It is undeniable, nowadays the use of laptops is more in demand than the use of computers. This is because the laptop can be carried with you directly.

Many offices prefer to give laptops to their employees to work, especially for employees who are mobile and rarely in the office.

When you decide to buy a laptop, buy it as needed because laptops have a variety of specifications. The more specific, the more expensive the price.

Laptops for students will be different from the needs of a designer's laptop or a laptop for playing games. But whatever the type, you expect a laptop battery to last as long as possible and last as long as possible.

Important things before buying a laptop

In addition to buying as needed, laptops with ultra-low voltage (ULV) or have low power can save battery usage. If a normal laptop can last a maximum of 4 hours, this type of laptop can last up to 9 hours.

Doesn't that sound tempting? Of course, but you have to prepare more funds because the price of this type of laptop is less expensive. Another option is to look for a battery that has the same power as a ULV laptop battery.

For those of you who often travel and work in the field and need this kind of extended laptop battery, it is very necessary.

Laptop battery life

Maybe you ask how long a battery can last. Just like the human brain, the battery's ability will decrease or weaken after some time of use. And you know, a battery is assembled for a maximum of 800 recharges.

If you rarely recharge, maybe your battery will last up to 3 years. On the other hand, if it is used frequently and recharged within 1 year, its ability will change.

The effect of temperature on the battery

It is not good to put or store the laptop at a high room temperature. This can speed up the process of the laptop battery losing power even though it is not connected to electricity. The high room temperature can shorten the life of the battery.

Especially if you often charge your battery while the laptop is still on or is being used to do something. Unknowingly you also contribute to weakening laptop battery power.

When we connect the laptop to the mains and remove the battery, some of the positives are that the recharge cycle of the battery will be more protected.

In addition, cold batteries will experience a slower aging process. But the risk is when suddenly the electric current flowing to the laptop goes out, the laptop will immediately turn off and loss of data that you are working on will be very possible.

To avoid this, it's a good idea to prepare a UPS that can function as a backup when the power goes out.

It's a different story if you keep the battery installed on the laptop while the electric current charges the battery, the positive thing is that the laptop will still turn on even though the power suddenly turns off.

You also don't have to bother removing the battery. But you have to be prepared to accept the risk that the battery will decrease its ability when the temperature in the battery increases.

Tips for a longer battery life

To keep your laptop battery durable, there are several ways you can do, among others, by calibrating the battery, which is every 30 charging times, draining the battery before re-charging so that the elements in the battery remain accurate.

But don't use it too often so you don't lose the power storage capacity of the battery. Then it's a good idea to remove the battery and store it in a cool place. If you store it in the refrigerator, cover it tightly with plastic so that no water gets in and causes moisture. Before using or recharging the battery, warm it up for a while at room temperature.

The characteristics of the battery drop

To find out whether the battery capacity is still good or has decreased there is the most effective way you can do it. Currently, many applications claim to be able to predict battery life, but this method is easier than relying on a thousand applications.

The trick is to charge your battery to 100% full, then use it to watch movies, browse, or play games. A still good battery will last for at least 2 hours. If your laptop battery only lasts less than 2 hours and the days are getting shorter, then it is certain that your battery has decreased in capacity and may not be suitable for use again.

If it's like this, is it necessary to buy another battery that will be used as a backup? Depending on your needs, of course, if you need it because you have to work with a laptop for a long time and it is rarely connected to electricity, then it is certain that you must have a spare battery.

But if it's just normal daily use, there's no need to rush to buy a spare battery. Just leave it until your battery can no longer be used before you buy a new battery.

Generic batteries for laptops

the question that often arises is, is it permissible to use other brands of batteries if they fit and can be installed on your laptop? At first glance it looks good and doesn't matter, but did you know that every laptop battery is installed with a kind of microchip that matches the laptop where the battery is installed. This means that the program on the chip is compatible with the laptop.

If you are determined to use a generic battery or another brand of battery, you are afraid that it will cause a crash on the laptop because the program on the battery and the laptop that is occupied is not suitable.

Many generic batteries do not pass the battery safety standard test, so the price of these batteries is cheaper than the original batteries. But if you think about the risks that you will get later, it can even damage the laptop, do you still want to bet on using generic batteries?

The use of laptops that quickly damage the battery

All laptop owners want their laptops to last, consequently, you must avoid using the wrong laptop to help your laptop battery continue to function properly, of course. The first is, use a laptop as needed, not too long.

Playing games all day long without giving the laptop time to rest will shorten the life of the battery and laptop. Two, do not let the laptop die with an empty battery because it can damage the components on the laptop.

Three, do not use the laptop while recharging the battery. Fourth, avoid using cooling fun because cooling fun also takes energy from the laptop battery. Indirectly the laptop will work harder and make the battery temperature increase.

Five, avoid putting the laptop in a soft place because it will increase the temperature quickly. Lastly, don't charge the laptop overnight or for too long, unplug the charger when the battery is fully charged 100%.
