Computer Terms We Need to Know

Computer terms sometimes make us confused, especially for those who are not in the software world. For those with an educational background in computer technology, you may be familiar with the term computer.

Then, what about us who really do not understand at all about computers? Especially when going to buy a computer, we are often confused to determine which one suits our needs because of our ignorance of the term computer.

The term in the computer world is indeed a category of terms that is quite difficult because it uses an uncommon system and network language. That's why we often see when we are going to buy a computer at least we have to bring a friend who understands the ins and outs of computers.

This is done worrying about buying a computer that does not suit your needs. However, the results will be different if we understand the term computer field, so we can confidently buy our own computer.

The Importance of Knowing Terms in Computers

Many think that computer terms are complicated and difficult to understand because they use network and technical language. That is why many people before buying a computer ask here and there to just discuss the components or specifications of a computer which is usually accompanied by a computer term that is still foreign to some people.

Nowadays, the era is sophisticated and we can get information easily and quickly, so there is no longer any reason for us to still be technologically stuttering aka ignorant with terms in the computer field.

Knowledge of computer terms does not only belong to those who are in the computer world, but we who are lay people can also recognize terms in the computer field. There are many references that we can use to find out various computer terms, starting from books, magazines, tabloids, to sources from the internet.

Let's just look at the magazines or tabloids that carry the theme of computers or electronic devices. There we can also find various terms in the field of computers, even complete with pictures. Not to mention if we search on the internet, we can get various sources that explore terms in the field of computers. So, at this time there is no reason not to know the term computer world.

Entering this all-digital era, it is impossible not to be in touch with computers, so we need to have knowledge of computer terms. Almost everyone today has a computer of various types.

It can be said that the computer is a tool that can simplify our work, especially for a writer. In fact, almost all professions do not escape using computers, call it a graphic designer, lecturer, photographer, researcher, teacher, to students, all of whom need a computer.

The need for computers makes us inevitably also have to understand the terms related to the computer itself. It would be better if we understand these terms, so that consequently we can follow the development of computers from time to time.

Electronic devices must experience developments and changes by using more sophisticated devices. If we don't understand computer-related terms, how can we keep up with these developments? So, knowing computer terms is the best solution.

Various Computer Terms We Should Know

You want to know what terms in the field of computers, complete with their meanings? Once you're familiar with these terms, you won't have to ask friends when you buy a computer. You also no longer need to ask here and there if the computer is having problems.

Often when our computers experience problems such as the operating system won't run, the CD-rom doesn't work when inserting the CD, or the hard disk is infected with a virus, we don't know what's really going on.

You certainly don't want to be confused anymore, right, if your computer has problems? Likewise, you certainly don't want to bother other people if you want to buy a computer, right? If so, from now on we should know various terms in the computer world, at least the basic terms that are often used related to the specifications in computers.

Here are some computer terms that we should know:

1. Buffer

This buffer is a collection or amount of memory that we can use to store data temporarily. This buffer serves to help minimize differences in the speed of data transfer rates from one device to another.

2. BIOS

BIOS stands for Basic Input Output System, in the form of software from the built-in system, whose function is to provide instructions for controlling computer hardware such as disk drives, keyboards, serial port communication and so on.

3. Clock Core

This core clock is the speed of a Graphics Processor Unit (GPU) in the video card. This core clock can vary even if you use the same GPU, because the video card itself can determine its own core clock so that it is different from video cards from other manufacturers.

4. Defragment

Defragment is related to files and folders, because defragment regulates the process of reorganizing pieces of files and folders so that they are more organized in a media, so as to minimize the distance between pieces of data between segments in a file. Thus, defragmentation can help speed up the process of reading files and not having to jump randomly just to read pieces of data in the file.

5. Driver A

driver is a program specially designed so that computers can communicate well and can operate with various hardware, such as flash drives, printers, VGA, and so on.

6. FSB

FSB is a computer term that can represent the speed of the bus, which will later be used by various components that are directly related to the CPU. This FSB will determine the level of CPU speed in communicating with existing components.

7. GUI

This GUI stands for Graphical User Interface, which is the numeric name for all computer interfaces that use graphics, windows, or pointing devices as a tool that can replace the interface with the command line.

8. CD-ROM

This CD-ROM stands for Compact Disk Read Only Memory, which functions to store sound recordings using a CD-ROM Drive device.

9. Mainboard

The mainboard is often referred to as the motherboard, in the form of the main circuit board in a computer. In this motherboard installed processor, memory, and other peripherals.

10. Storage

Storage is a data storage medium in a computer, in the form of removable storage such as floppy disks and non-removable storage such as hard disks.
