1. Test Tubes

Talking about the biology laboratory, it is synonymous with the space that brings us closer to the world of biology. One of the tools in the biology laboratory is a test tube.

What is a test tube? What's this for? Test tubes are tubes made of plastic or glass that are resistant to chemical reactions and are also able to withstand temperature changes. Therefore, this tube is known as a test tube.

There are two types of test tubes, namely tubes with a lid and a tube without a lid. In addition, test tubes are also available in various sizes to suit your needs.

Broadly speaking, the test tube has 3 functions. First, the test tube serves as a place to react materials or chemical elements. Second, test tubes are used to process chemical reactions on a small scale. And third, this test tube also functions as a breeding ground for microbes in liquid media.

2. Microscope 

The world of biology is identical with examining small objects or even microbes with very small sizes. Therefore, it is not surprising that in the biology laboratory there is a microscope.

What is a microscope? A microscope is a tool used to see objects that cannot be seen clearly with the eye or objects with very small sizes. In other words, a microscope makes it easier for us to see objects in small sizes.

3. Dropper Pipette

Another tool in the biology laboratory is a dropper. What is a dropper? A drip pipette is a small pipe made of glass or plastic with a tapered end at the end. And the top of the pipette is usually covered with rubber.

The use of a dropper is to take liquids in small droplet scales. Usually a pipette like this is needed to carry out experiments in a biology laboratory.

In other words, a dropper is used to transfer very small amounts of liquid from one container to another. The transfer of liquid using a pipette for liquids in small quantities is indeed very beneficial.

On the other hand, if it is used to move large amounts of liquid, of course it takes a very long time. Therefore, this dropper is only used to transfer a drop of liquid or a few drops.

4. Magnifying Glass

Basically, the function of a magnifying glass and a microscope is the same, it's just that the way it works is different. Yes, as the name implies, a magnifying glass or loupe serves to enlarge the image.

In other words, a magnifying glass is used to examine small objects. In the world of biology, a magnifying glass is usually used to view microbes or other objects when conducting research in the laboratory.

5. Atmometer

There are many biological laboratory tools, the next one is the atmometer. What is an atmometer? What does it have to do with temperature measurement?

In a site mentioned that an anemometer is a tool that serves to measure the rate of evaporation of water in the air. This thermometer consists of a glass tube. At the top end of the tube is closed. Meanwhile, at the bottom is open.

On one side, there is a line along with a number that serves to indicate the size of the volume of the contents. The neck and mouth of the bottle are intentionally narrow, to make it easier to hold.

So, what is the function of these biological laboratory tools? This Erlenmeyer flask has 5 functions. The first function is to measure and mix the ingredients to be analyzed or examined.

Then the second function is to accommodate the solution. There are two types of solutions that can be accommodated in the Erlenmeyer flask, namely solid and liquid.

7. Petri dish

Another tool found in the biology laboratory is a petri dish. Petri dishes are containers that are circular in shape. Petri dishes are generally made of glass which is used for cell culture.

Please note, petri dishes are always in pairs. A rather small size as a container, while the larger size serves as a lid.

The petri dish was invented by Julius Richard Petri in 1877. Not surprisingly, this round container was finally given the name 'petri' after its inventor. This tool is used as a trophy investigation container. In addition, it is also used to culture bacteria, spores, and seeds. No wonder, if petri dishes are often found in biology laboratories.

8. Botanical box

The next biological laboratory equipment is the botanical box. What is a botanical box? Botanical box is a tool or container used as a place to store samples of botanical specimens. The goal is not to dry quickly so that it can be investigated further.

This botanical box consists of a metal shell measuring 19 cm wide. 8 cm thick and 30 cm long. This box is equipped with a hanger. With this hanger, the botanical box can be easily carried anywhere, whether you carry it or sling it.

9. Spatula

Spatula is a small spoon-shaped tool that is often found in biology laboratories. This tool serves to make it easier for us to take objects. Shape the spatula like a small spoon, stem, and flat.

Please note, there are 3 types of spatulas used in the laboratory. First, a spatula made of metal, serves to take objects that have been sliced ​​to be observed by a microscope.

Second, a horn or polythene spatula is used as a spoon to pick up solid chemicals. Third, a small spoon-shaped nickel spatula that is useful for picking up chemicals.

A spatula can be used to make a solution. However, please note, the spatula can not be used in the manufacture of acid solutions.
